Fri. May 6 - Low Key and One Voice join Treblemakers rehearsal @ 8am; 4th/5th grade Ice Cream Social 3:30-5pm

Tues. May 10 - Spring Concert call time 6:15pm, 7pm start time

Attire is solid, bright color on top (no graphics or words - white is okay if no alternative), black on bottom, black shoes

Sat. May 14 - Great America Festival (6th-8th grade), be at school at 8:45, bus leaves @ 9:15am

Due the setup time demands of this year's musical production, there will be no choir rehearsal April 11-15. Rehearsal will resume the following Tuesday April 19th, with no Low Key rehearsal on the 18th as well.

Field trip

On Thursday, Jan. 6th the 6th, 7th and 8th grade choir members will be going to LT North Campus for the annual Jr. High Festival. Details are found on the "Documents and Forms" page in the LT Field Trip document. Permission for this was included in the form at the beginning of the year, so please let Mr. Tatina know about any conflicts ttatina@d107.org

Monday Nov. 29 is the Winter Choir Concert. Call time will be 6pm (we'll need some time to practice after the break). Attire is black and white with black shoes. Concert begins at 7pm.

Also, any student who has not turned in $4 for the pizza lunch on Friday Dec. 10 should turn it in by the 29th.

There will be no choir this morning (tuesday). Mr. Tatina is ill.

There will be an all choir rehearsal this Friday at 8am. We will be rehearsing our combined song. One Voice and Low Key...Please make arrangements to have your child there and on time as it is our only chance to work on this music together. Treblemakers will still be rehearsing @ 7:30 that morning.

College A Cappella Group Concert

On Saturday, 11-6 @ 7pm in the South Campus Corral, LTHS is bringing in Northwestern University's premier a cappella group Purple Haze to LaGrange to perform a fundraiser concert. Tickets are $5 for students (any age, any school) and $10 for adults. The concert is going to be FUN – contemporary music arranged in the college a cappella style. Purple Haze is the group in which John Park of Fox’s 2009 season of American Idol is a member. The group also has some alumni who are currently on or have performed on Broadway in various musicals currently on broadway. They are a very talented bunch! This concert is marketed for junior high students. Mr. Tatina has plenty of tickets for sale for this event - friends and family are welcome! Take advantage of this rare opportunity!

Some additional information has been added that will be of assistance in student preparation for auditions and the festival. They have included a few tips on "What to Expect" at auditions for students, the musicianship questions that were used at last year's audition, and the section divisions for the two audition pieces (one section per piece will be chosen the day of auditions). IMEA District 1 Junior Chorus

Audition information for the Illinois Music Educators Association District 1 Junior Chorus has now been posted on the Documents and Forms page of this site. You will need Adobe or another PDF viewer to view it.

The District Chorus is made up of select students, grades 6-8, from the Chicagoland area who have auditioned. The audition process consists of singing portions of 2 of the district pieces, the patriotic selection (My Country 'Tis/America), and answering some musical questions. Auditions last about 10 minutes and will be held on October 2 at Summit Hill Jr. High in Frankfort. Students who score high enough are selected to participate in the 1-day IMEA Music Festival Saturday, Nov. 6 at Lincoln-Way North also in Frankfort.

Both the festival and audition process provide great experience in building confidence and musicianship. To sign up for auditions and get working on music, talk to Mr. Tatina (ttatina@d107.org). Rehearsals will be after school starting the second week of school, days TBD. Deadline for signing up is September 15.

I highly encourage this rewarding experience!

Music Ensembles Make Clean Sweep

Congratulations to the Treblemakers on their Superior rating at the High Note Festival in May. Superior is the highest rating possible given to the ensembles that display the highest levels of musicianship.

Congrats also to the band and orchestra for their Superior ratings!
